Amplifying the voices of African researchers and scientists since 2019
For many early-career researchers in Africa, the dream of publishing in a reputable journal feels out of reach. The dedication is there, but the support often isn’t. Without clear guidance or access to experienced mentors, it’s easy to second-guess your voice, your expertise, and whether your work will ever be seen. In many universities, research takes a back seat to teaching, and publishing can feel like a privilege reserved for someone else.
At Rethé, we believe in your expertise. Your work and your voice matter. We’ve lived the experience of being the “only one” in the room, of not seeing our voices reflected in scientific literature, and of wondering if our ideas would ever make it past draft form. We created Rethé to change that story for you.
Led by award-winning data scientist Dr. Elaine O. Nsoesie, Rethé provides the tools, training, and mentorship African researchers need to publish their work with confidence. Since 2019, we’ve partnered with universities and organizations across Africa to support more than 1,000 early-career researchers through hands-on workshops, digital resources, and community-centered fellowships.
Whether you’re writing your first paper or trying to find your footing in academic publishing, Rethé offers more than training. It offers community, encouragement, and practical steps forward. You don’t need to wait for permission to share your voice. With the right support, you can publish your work and help shape scientific conversations as a confident contributor from Africa.
